House Rules

Check-in: starts at 4:00 PM, we kindly request a 15-minute advance phone call to 1-847-912-6789 prior to your arrival so that the host can greet you in the driveway as you arrive.  We offer luggage service, show you around, make any last-minute accommodations, and answer any questions you might have.  Early check in may be possible upon request.  Early check in is most readily available on weekends and holidays.  

Guests are encouraged to book on and choose the Traveler Protection program which can provide a full refund with certain conditions to be met for documented and unexpected illness, injury or death in the family. Please read the policy carefully when enrolling. Early check-out, delayed arrival and cancellations are non-refundable.  Cancellations are non-refundable but we may offer a gift certificate for the refund.  Cancellations may be charged a $50 cancellation fee.

No smoking, animals or unregistered guests unless approved in advance of your stay.  Smoking inside or outside will result in your reservation being cancelled without a refund. 
1 dog under 15 pounds may be allowed in certain conditions.  Approval is required before booking for any animals.  An additional pet deposit will be required.

A continental breakfast is included on the first day. This includes blueberry muffins (upon request), cereal, oatmeal, and coffee, milk, and orange juice. If you wish to eat a hot breakfast, ordered from our menu, it cost $15 per person per meal. Cash or credit card accepted. On weekdays, we serve the hot breakfast no later than 8 am. Breakfast time is more flexible on the weekends.  Also, breakfast must be ordered and paid for no later than 8 pm the night before you wish to eat it.  Menus are found in your room desk.  

Guests enjoy booking the whole floor so they will not need to share common areas with people they do not know.  However, your hosts will take out the common area trash and access the mechanical room during your stay.  It is not possible to exclude your host from accessing this area.  You may arrange a mutually agreeable time for your host to perform these duties.  In emergencies, such as a power outage, or a fire alarm activation, your hosts will need to access the mechanical room.  Please give us a call at 1-847-912-6789 if you have any concerns.

Guidelines For Check-out

1. Return anything that was moved back to its original position.
2. Ask for cleaning rags if you need to clean anything like your shoes, etc.
3. Place trash into the trash can.
4. Place used towels in the laundry basket (there's one in your closet). Leave linens on the bed, no need to make the bed. Please don't wash any bedding, linens or towels provided by Harmony Inn. Leave spare/extra bedding that you used on the bed.
5. Remove personal items from the kitchen, shared fridge, room fridge, and restroom.
6. Check for your phone charger, socks in the bed, items left in dresser drawers.
7. Turn off lights and fans.
8. Close and lock your room door and the outside and patio doors.
9. Send us a message letting us know you have checked out.
10. Check out ends at 11:00 AM. Late check out fee is $50 per hour.

Special Notes

  • Must be able to climb stairs in most situations
  • Special parking may be available to avoid steps upon request and if available.
  • Some baby equipment and handicap equipment is available upon request.
  • Some spaces (living room, kitchen, laundry) are shared unless you book the whole floor

COVID Policy

The innkeepers are fully vaccinated. We do not request this information from guests.
We follow very thorough cleanings. The linens, pillows, and floors are sanitized between bookings. The curtains and bed bug protectors are disinfected with Lysol. The pillow covers are ironed. We wash all linens with disinfectant. Long-term guest rooms are cleaned weekly. All surfaces are cleaned with disinfectant.
While we do not require masks, if a guest would like us to wear masks, we are more than happy to do so. Normally, we greet guests and check them in. 
Please register all guests when you book. Prior approval is required to bring visitors to Harmony Inn.
Breakfast is served with covers on the plates either in your room, in the dining room or outdoors on the patio.
Clorox wipes and hand sanitizer are available in the restroom for guests to use.

1. Question: Where is Harmony Inn located?

2. Question: May I book by calling?
Answer: Yes, we are happy to take your reservation on the phone if you prefer it rather than booking on the website.

3. Question: How many rooms are there at this property?
Answer: We have 4 private rooms available to reserve. 3 of the rooms are on the same floor and can be booked as one reservation.

4. Question: Does Harmony Inn have a swimming pool?
Answer: During the summer, guests can swim just 2 miles from Harmony Inn at Sting Ray Bay Waterpark. It has 2 waterslides, zero depth areas for young children, water features, 2 diving boards, and Olympic size swimming lanes. Most days the pool is not very busy so you can fully enjoy all of the areas.

5. Question: How far is Harmony Inn from the Illinois Railway Museum?
Answer: The museum is just 10 miles from Harmony Inn. We often hear the steam engines and other trains from our property!

6. Question: Does Harmony Inn have a curfew?
Answer: No, we only ask that if guests come in late, they be respectful of other guests who are sleeping.

7. Question: How long has Harmony Inn been in business?
Answer: Harmony Inn received their official permit to open in June 2020 from the McHenry County Planning and Development Department. We also received full approval from the Huntley Fire District to open after meeting all of the fire code requirements.

8. Question: Is Harmony Inn located in a house?
Answer: Yes, the house has been fully renovated for the purpose of hosting guests from across the world. Each private room has a private restroom. We follow strict code requirements for fire safety, food sanitation, COVID restrictions, and state law.

9. Question: Does the host reside on site?
Answer: Yes, the host has a small private area separate from the guests. This enables the host to respond to any guests concerns or issues that may arise in a very responsive manner.

10. Question: Is early check-in available?
Answer: Check in starts at 4:00 PM to allow enough time to fully prepare for each guest to have a thoroughly cleaned room. Occasionally, upon request, guest may be able to check in early. there may be an additional fee to check in early. Early check in on Saturday and Sunday are generally approved.
